the House: Kinder Program"
Ireland House at Oakridge Farm
A special tour of Ireland House just for the younger folks!
Dressed in pinafores and vests, children learn about the
House, the family and especially, the FUN that the children
enjoyed...as they play old fashioned Parlor games and discover
the simple pleasures of home made toys from the 1800's.
They even get to make a special toy to take home!

Joseph Brant Museum
Students will be introduced to Joseph Brant. They will have
an opportunity to explore the museum and through a variety
of discovery activities learn about Brant's role as the
leader of the Six Nations Confederacy and a British Army
Captain.

"A Day
in the Life"
Ireland House at Oakridge Farm
You choose! This program is custom made by you to enhance
your classroom program. Your students will visit the Ireland
family homestead and experience life as it was in the 1800's.
They will be totally immersed in pioneer chores and fun!
They can participate in your choice of two of the following
activities:
· cooking on the hearth or woodstove (April-October)
· churning butter
· fence building
· laundry
· carding and spinning
· rug beating
· food preservation
· old fashioned fun and games
All programs include a tour of the historic Ireland House
and the completion of a related craft!

Christmas"
Ireland House at Oakridge Farm
Children will travel back in time and experience Christmas
in the 1800's.
They're sure to enjoy touring the Ireland House with its'
halls decked for a true Victorian Christmas! As they join
in the festive activities, they will learn about holiday
traditions, bake sweet treats over the open hearth and make
a special Christmas craft!

"Winterfest"
Joseph Brant Museum
What could be more exciting than travelling the globe to
learn about special Winter celebrations and traditions!
Children will be thoroughly surprised when they learn the
origins of our Victorian decorations as they tour the museum.
As they explore the Discovery Gallery visiting the various
learning centers, they'll surely imagine themselves to be
in Mexico, or China or some other far away land! Naturally,
their visit would not be complete without a visit to the
longhouse mural for a story about the Iroquois Mid Winter
Festival!
