There was time to play way back when! This new exhibit highlights Burlington’s recreational past, exploring seasonal and outdoor activities, and some indoor fun and games. Although the early settlers had far less leisure time then we do today, they still found time for fun, particularly during the summer months. Whether it was playing baseball at the turn of the 20th century, playing around in swimwear from circa 1915, or enjoying a game of golf in the 1920s, many of the activities from this earlier era are still quite popular today!

September 24th. The students will experience a carousel of pioneer demonstrations that reflect the activities offered at Ireland House and align with the Heritage and Citizenship strand in the Social Studies curriculum.
The Museums of Burlington in partnership with the Halton Catholic District School Board has invited Burlington Catholic schools to participate in Culture Days at Ireland House. Culture Days is a collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the art and cultural life of their communities.

It’s an old-fashioned fall fair right here in the city! Enjoy the fruit of the season and take part in scarecrow making, pony rides and face painting. See antique tractors and, pioneer apple schnitzing and old-time apple cider making.
