“It is strongly believed that Culture and Heritage provide a community with identity and pride through an understanding and connection with the past."

As events that promote history, education, community and culture, the Museums of Burlington special events help to raise public awareness and the value of arts, heritage, culture and education which continues to have a region-wide impact.

Each year, in addition to events specifically designed to reflect current programming, the Museums of Burlington present an annual calendar of events at both Museum sites - Ireland House at Oakridge Farm and Joseph Brant Museum - and off site at LaSalle Park. Hands-on learning activities and authentic heritage demonstrations are offered alongside unique entertainment. Combined, the events draw out thousands of people, fostering active participation in the backdrop of history and learning.

The events range from large summer events such as the Canada Day Strawberry Social at Joseph Brant Museum on Burlington’s waterfront and the Joseph Brant Day Festival which is held at historic Lasalle Park to seasonal celebrations at Ireland House at Oakridge Farm such as the Applefest Fall Fair and heritage Christmas events.

Not only do the events provide an opportunity for people to explore and discover area history,  they provide activities and entertainment that appeal to wide-ranging audiences and create a special occasion where residents of Burlington can come together to celebrate, in turn, fostering community spirit.

The Museums are involved in parnterships that range from promotional exchanges and outreach opportunities hosted through organizations and their events to direct programming and activities provided and delivered by partners at events. The continued active collaboration and participation of various community organizations, demonstrators, presenters, exhibitors and other participants at the Museums’ events supports the Museums' goal of building relationships and sharing Burlington’s heritage in an innovative way, all the while creating meaningful experiences for all those involved at our events.
