Our Events

Our special events are a key component in maintaining an up-to-date, positive dialogue with our community. All of our events promote history, education, community and culture and provide visitors with the opportunity to explore local heritage by showcasing the museums and the history of our community.

EVENTS AT IRELAND HOUSE:

As a historic farmstead, now resting on 4.5 acres of original farmland, with its buildings, yards, gardens, and contents Ireland House at Oakridge Farm is interpreted to three distinct time periods, 1850's, 1890's and 1920's, and represents the generations of Ireland family who lived in the house.

Visitors to the Ireland House enjoy special events and participatory activities in keeping with the character and history of the House and the Ireland Family.

Events presented at Ireland House embody the "living history" atmosphere of the site. Interpretation of the historic Ireland Hou se is communicated through educational tours, heritage demonstrations and activities, historic cooking and costumed re-enactors.

From spring to summer, events at Ireland House embrace the grounds and utilise components such the woodshed, summer kitchen and outdoor cooking station. During the winter season, the house is made ambient with a roaring fire and historic cooking on the open hearth and traditional heritage activities complemented by live performances, music and one-of-a-kind hands-on activities.
