A spectacular, grand celebration to honour Queen's 60th Jubilee with outstanding entertainment, performances, special guests, re-enactors a Royal Tea & more!
Her reign of 60 years is the second-longest for a British monarch; only Queen Victoria has reigned longer. Her Silver and Golden Jubilees were celebrated in 1977 and 2002; her Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated during 2012....over her life, she witnessed the ongoing transformation of the British Empire into the Commonwealth of Nations…”
To celebrate the grand occasion, the Museums of Burlington are excited to announce we will be hosting : The Queen’s Jubilee & Mother’s Day Royal Tea.On Sunday, May 13th, from 10:00am to 5:00pm at Ireland House at Oakridge Farm, we will be honouring Queen Elizabeth II and her Diamond Jubilee; celebrating the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne, her 60–year reign and her service and dedication to this country.
Event Activities: The Garden Tea Party:
The royal garden tea party is a component of the event that will run 11:30am-4:00pm and which includes full tea refreshments (specialty sandwiches, traditional scones and sweets, tea workshops). The fee to participate in the tea party is $8 for adults and $5 for children up to 3-12yrs. Tickets for tea times must be purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased by credit card over the telephone by calling 905-332-9888 or in person at Ireland House Museum.
Parking will NOT be available on site. A shuttle will be provided for all visitors from the M.M. Robinson High School parking lot located at 2425 Upper Middle Rd Burlington, just a few short blocks from Ireland House Museum.
Official Tea Times: 11:30 a.m. (full), 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. ALL TEA TIMES ARE FULL. Please enjoy the rest of the event with great activities, refreshments and entertainment!

All day activities for Queen’s Jubilee & Mother's Day:
~Those attending can experience live entertainment and performances with Sophisticated Brass and the Burlington group “Hotsy Totsy” specializing in songs from the 1940s & 1950s.
~There will be the highly witty and entertaining “Royal Variety Command Performances” by the British peddling sideshow group Mental Floss
~We will have Scottish Highland dancing demonstrations by MacLeod of Lewis Scottish Arts Centre Dancers complimented by Scottish “Country Folk” dancing demonstrations!
~The day will also include special guests & attractions such as historic gardening presentations, tea workshops, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi dog showcase
~Special presentations on Queen Elizabeth II and the British Monarchy by Robert Finch from the Monarchist League of Canada and also by Nathan Tidridge, writer on the British Crown and the Canadian Constitution.
Hands-on activities will include making a traditional fascinator and a flower corsage arrangement with the horticultural society alongside festive crafts for children.
There will be royal ceremonies including a “knighting”, fencing demonstrations, military exercises, royal horse and carriage rides (11:30am-3:30pm) & the chance to interact with Queen Elizabeth professional impersonator along with full access to the historic museum interpreted by our staff!
