Exhibits at Ireland House

Physical preservation of our rich past is an essential part of retaining Burlington’s living history. It is through our collections program that we nurture the relics of our past to serve our community’s cultural growth for the future. We maintain and illustrate these links to Burlington’s past through our research and artifact acquisitions, conservation, exhibition and interpretation. To retain their historical and informational value, the artifacts are not only properly cared for but documented.

Ireland House at Oakridge Farm presents a detailed history of Burlington from the 1830s to the 1920s through the Ireland family. The historic farmstead with its buildings, yards, gardens and contents as they were acquired and used by the Ireland family are also representative of local rural life of that period.

Artefacts Canada

Ireland House at Oakridge Farm is proud to be a contributing member to Artefacts Canada, an online database containing close to 4 million object records and approximately 700,000 images from Canadian museums. This important source of information is made available to museum professionals and the public through the Canadian Heritage Information Network.

Marie Ireland Bush Gallery

Located on the main floor within the Oakridge Interpretive Centre, the Marie Ireland Bush Gallery is also a temporary exhibit space introducing visitors to various aspects of life in pioneer times. The current display features Marie Ireland Bush, with mementos and photographs on exhibit to assist with telling her story.
